Healthy Schools Network, Inc.

Healthy Schools Network, Inc. is a not for profit environmental health research, education, information/referral, and advocacy organization dedicated to ensuring every child and school employee an environmentally safe and healthy school which is clean and in good repair. Founded in 1995, it works in collaboration with public health, parent, environment, and education/labor organizations at all levels to promote policy reforms, legislation, and funding for school facilities. The Healthy Schools/Healthy Kids Clearinghouse which won a US EPA Environmental Quality Award in 2001 has helped parents, personnel and schools in nearly every state to address environmental health problems, and some to win their own EPA/School IAQ awards. Recently, HSN supported the federally enacted Healthy and High Performance Schools provisions of LNCB; chaired the US EPA's advisory School Environments Work Group; and was invited to provide lead testimony for the US Senate's Environment and Public Works Committee Hearing on Green Schools in fall 2002.

User friendly publications available include: Parent Guide to Schools IAQ, Daylighting, Healthier Cleaning, Protecting Sick Children in "Sick" Buildings, Kick the Pesticide Habit, Health & Safety Committees, Renovation and Health, Open Meetings Laws, Molds At School, and the Healthy Schools/Healthy Kids ABC's, a guide to the most common adult occupational safety and health regulations that apply to schools in some 26 states.
